Census data
1991 census data for SLS members and those living in their household, including:
- age, sex, marital status
- family, household or communal establishment type
- housing variables – including tenure, rooms and amenities
- country of birth
- ethnicity
- educational qualifications
- economic activity
- occupation and social class
- migration
- limiting long-term illness
2001 census data for SLS members and those living in their household. Similar to 1991 variables, but additionally includes:
- self-rated health
- religion
- caregiving
2011 census data for SLS members and those living in their household will be available from Autumn 2014 and includes new information on:
- status of visitors
- type of central heating
- date of arrival in the UK and intention to stay
- extended questions on language
- national identity
- detail of long-term illness/disability
