Whose information is held in the SLS?

The SLS includes information on roughly 5% of the Scottish population. People are selected to be ‘SLS Members’ based on their day and month of birth – the exact dates used to choose members is a secret known only to the very few people who need that information to create the SLS.

The dates are never revealed, even to the other members of the SLS team. No-one is allowed to know whether they are included in the data (see more about Confidentiality)
