Summary:
The Umbrella Project: Development of a simplified research ready Census dataset to allow for rapid response to policy developed questions, as well as to allow staff to produce simple taster tables for potential researchers and SLS newsletters.
The aim of this project is to create a research ready linked Census dataset which is pre-approved to allow the following research opportunities:
- SLS staff will be able to respond quickly to policy lead questions by making use of this pre-approved dataset containing variables deemed to be pertinent and most likely to be required in responding to policy needs.
- More generally, the SLS team could use this data to produce useful information to Civil Service policy teams, produce information adding to ongoing research and assist with enquiries from other organisations.
- SLS staff members will be able to provide ‘taster’ tables to potential researchers which will allow a better understanding of potential populations/outcomes and better determine the suitability and benefits of the SLS to researcher needs.
- SLS staff can use to produce newsletters and factsheets – showing change over time.
SLS staff can work with NRS Census outputs on investigating variables over time.
